Group health insurance quotes

A group health quote is built from your employees, not from a price list. Here is what a broker will ask for, how long it takes and what to read on each quote, followed by the form that puts you in touch with one.

We do not quote or estimate rates ourselves. The broker we introduce you to does.

Start with a licensed broker

A free matching service for employers, not a broker or insurer. We introduce you to a licensed broker and tell you who they are before anything is shared. No plan, tax or legal advice. How it works

The census: what a broker needs to quote

A spreadsheet with one row per eligible employee. No medical information is needed for a fully insured small group quote.

Six things to read on every quote

Two quotes are only comparable when both show these. Ask the broker to put them in one table.

  1. Premium per person, per tier

Not just a total. You need it to set contributions and to see how each employee is affected.

  2. Deductible and out-of-pocket maximum

What employees pay before the plan pays, and the most they can pay in a year. The KFF average single deductible was $1,955 in 2026.

  3. Network type and size

HMO, PPO, EPO or POS, and whether your employees' doctors and hospitals are in it.

  4. Participation and contribution rules

What share of eligible staff must enroll and what you must pay to get the plan.

  5. Funding type

Fully insured, level-funded or self-funded. Level-funded and self-funded quotes carry stop-loss terms that need reading.

  6. How long the rate is guaranteed

Usually twelve months for small group. Check any mid-year adjustments or rate caps.

From form to quotes

  1. You send the form

ZIP code, headcount, current cover and renewal date. About two minutes.

  2. We name a broker

Within one business day, with their license number. You say yes or no.

  3. Census and call

The broker asks for the census and talks through what you want.

  4. Quotes side by side

Usually days for small group, longer for level-funded or larger groups.

Quote questions

Can I get group health insurance quotes online?

You can see SHOP plans and estimate costs on healthcare.gov, and some carriers show sample rates. A real group quote needs a census, so most employers ask a broker, who can request quotes from several carriers at once.

How long do group health insurance quotes take?

For a fully insured small group with a complete census, often a few days. Level-funded and larger groups can take one to three weeks, especially if health questionnaires or claims data are needed.

Do employees have to answer health questions for a quote?

Not for a fully insured small group plan: carriers cannot use health status there. Level-funded, self-funded and some large group quotes may ask for health questionnaires or claims history.

Why can a broker not tell me the price straight away?

Because small group premiums are built from each employee's age, ZIP code and cover tier, and depend on the plan, carrier and funding type. The census is what turns a guess into a quote.

Will you send me quotes?

No. We are not licensed to quote or discuss rates. We introduce you to a licensed broker who prepares quotes for your business. General information for employers, not insurance, tax or legal advice. A licensed broker can tell you what applies to your business.

Ask a licensed broker for quotes

Three short steps: where the business is, what you have now, and who to speak to. It takes about two minutes and asks nothing about anyone's health.

  • Free for employers. The broker pays us a flat fee per introduction.
  • One broker, named to you first, with their state license number.
  • No advice from us. Plans, rates and tax questions go to the licensed broker.

We are a free matching service, not a broker or insurer, and we do not quote or recommend plans. We look for a licensed benefits broker who suits your business and tell you who it is; your enquiry goes to them only with your go-ahead.
